A Duke Energy flier who went through a grueling training process to become a gas-free center manager has now received a free home with an electric refrigerator and a TV, reports the New York Post.
“I was shocked to receive this gift,” said Michael Werts, who worked as a gas department manager for more than 20 years in the city.
“My wife and I have been trying to move our entire household to gas-fired power for almost 10 years.
Our family is struggling to get by on the $3,000 we have saved on gas bills.”
A spokesman for Duke Energy said in a statement: “We’re glad to hear that this new gift is for our employees and our community.
The program we offer is a proven success story for our customers.
The new arrangement was made possible by the Duke Energy Gas Tax Credit Program, which helps pay for gas-powered offices.”
We are proud to have worked with a company that shares our commitment to our customers and the environment.”
